The Date

You picked me up at the crack of dawn
What a day it has been!


You made me laugh, 
You made me cry

I went all the way to the top
And then came crashing down
And went back up again
As if on a roller coaster


I ate, I drank
I thought, I imagined
I dreamt

Now that night has fallen
I resign to sleep's awaiting arms

Hopeful that tomorrow
O life
I'll have a date with you again

അരമണിനേരമിരുന്നൊരു ബാല  അരമണി ചെമ്പുമുലഞ്ഞൊരു  ചേല അരമണിയാൾ! അവൾ  ചെയ്തൊരു വേല! അരമണിവോർക്കൻപുണ്ടാകേല! അരമണിനേരം = അര മണിക്കൂർ നേരം  അരമണി = അരയിലെ മണി  അരമണി = അ + രമണി = രമണിയല്ലാത്തവൾ  അരമണിവോർ  = അരം + അണിവോർ = അരം അണിയുന്നവർ = ശിക്ഷ കൊടുക്കുന്നവർ  (രണ്ടാം വരി  വെറും വർണ്ണനയാണ്.  ഈ  സ്ത്രീ ചെയ്‌ത വേലയെന്താണെന്ന് വ്യക്തമല്ല.)
