അരമണിനേരമിരുന്നൊരു ബാല അരമണി ചെമ്പുമുലഞ്ഞൊരു ചേല അരമണിയാൾ! അവൾ ചെയ്തൊരു വേല! അരമണിവോർക്കൻപുണ്ടാകേല! അരമണിനേരം = അര മണിക്കൂർ നേരം അരമണി = അരയിലെ മണി അരമണി = അ + രമണി = രമണിയല്ലാത്തവൾ അരമണിവോർ = അരം + അണിവോർ = അരം അണിയുന്നവർ = ശിക്ഷ കൊടുക്കുന്നവർ (രണ്ടാം വരി വെറും വർണ്ണനയാണ്. ഈ സ്ത്രീ ചെയ്ത വേലയെന്താണെന്ന് വ്യക്തമല്ല.)
